County Waste to Begin Curbside Pick-Up
The Clifton Park Town Board announced today that County Waste will once again be conducting free, curbside yard waste pick-up service for Clifton Park residents in 2021. The service will be offered beginning April 12th through the end of November weather permitting.
“The Town has offered this free, valuable service to Clifton Park residents in partnership with County Waste for more than a decade, said Town Supervisor Phil Barrett. The unique Private-Public partnership ensures yard waste is removed, processed and recycled professionally at no cost to the Town.”
Leaves, grass clippings, tree and shrub trimmings and other brush will be collected in brown paper yard waste bags only. The yard waste along with the bags are recycled through a processing system. No yard waste will be collected from garbage cans or any other containers. Small, bundled brush that is less than four feet long and six inches in diameter will also be collected. Bundles need to be tied to allow for easy pick-up and disposal.
Items that will not be collected include animal waste of any kind, tree or shrub roots of any type, tree stumps or logs, waste products including household garbage, pressure treated wood, railroad ties, building debris, plastic, metal or other foreign materials.
Weekly yard waste pickup days will be Monday, Tuesday and Friday. Residents that live South of Ballston Lake Road and Kinns Road will have their pick-ups on Monday or Tuesday. Residents North of Kinns Road and Ballston Lake Road will have their yard waste picked up on Fridays. At various times of the year when yard waste debris pick up is heavier than normal, pick-up days can deviate from the established schedule.
Residents are reminded not to place bags of yard waste at the curb for collection until the night before pick-up day to avoid inclement weather and bag spillage. If you have the bags outside, please do not place at the curb and cover the bags until the free service begins at the end of the month. Weathered and compromised yard waste bags are more difficult to remove, which slows down the process for everyone.
The Town Transfer Station also accepts yard waste all year long during regular business hours from Clifton Park residents only. No permit is needed but an ID is required. Extended hours at the Transfer Station for Spring Clean Up / Green Up activities will include Sundays April 25th and May 2nd from 10am-4pm for the collection of leaves and brush only.
